Dynamic Investment Climate
Economic experts forecast stable growth and increasing revenue for Russia. With a projected average plus of 4 % of the gross national product for the coming years, the country that lies to the west and east of the Ural shall be in a steadfast position, clearly leaving the remnants of the global crisis behind it.
The confidence in the economy also increases with the gross national product. The industry resumes its investment activity. In this process, mining shall continue to be an important field in the next decade, which is on average still growing faster than the economy.
In less than 20 years, the mining of coking coal alone shall have doubled in comparison with today. That is why the development of new deposits is one of the greatest investments of mining companies. Over 30 mining licenses are ready for award alone in the Kuzbass (Kuznetsk Basin). Foreign investors who have discovered the mining of raw materials in Russia as one of the most important fi elds of investment are also involved in this process.
A Focus on Operational Safety
In addition to the development of new deposits, the subject of operational health and safety is another key focus in terms of investment. The Russian government emphatically demands improved standards here and therefore implemented the technical regulation “on the safety of machinery and equipment” in 2010. The forecasted number of companies based in the Kuzbass, which currently account for 60 % of the Russian coal being mined there, shall in the near future provide investments in the tens of millions.
Mining is the Driving Force of Growth
Coal mining in Russia’s largest mining region also entails further investments in the amount of billions and thus the potential for growth. In addition to ambitious projects such as the development of the logistics and transportation system for the extracted raw material, this also includes the further development of the area in terms of infrastructure. The attractive industrial region attracts workers and their families. There is in increase in population, the housing construction is flourishing and salaries as well as purchasing power are continuously rising. These positively developing location factors provide the companies with additional security for the sustainability of their investments.
Confidence in Western Know-how
The Russian companies still rely on the theoretical and technical knowledge of western contractors for their ambitious infrastructure projects. The European experts traditionally enjoy the high-level of confidence put it in them, particular regarding the subject of operational and machine safety, which shall be a decisive factor in the future successful development of the Russian mining sector.
Thus, when UGOL ROSSII & MINING opens its doors for the 19th time in Novokuznetsk from 5 to 8 June 2012, a big opportunity also arises once again for providers of systems and service of mining technology.
Platform for Sustainable Businesses
Established in 1992 as “Coal of Russia” and since being jointly organised in 2000 by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and its Russian Partner SAO Kuzbasskaya Yarmaka, the trade fair “UGOL ROSSII & MINING” has become a widely recognized forum and an ideal meeting point for both the supply and demand of high-duty mining technology. In 2011, well over 21,000 professional trade visitors from all regions of the CIS and the neighbouring states came to participate in this extensive industrial trade fair: 620 exhibitors presented their knowledge and skills on an exhibition space of over 12,000 sqm. The number of trade fair participants thereby rose by approximately 30 % in comparison with 2010. The response of the companies was very positive. The extensive comments revealed that there was not only talk of numerous sales pitches but numerous concrete business deals were concluded during the trade fair. It was immediately clear to most exhibitors that they will also be in Novokuznetsk again in 2012. National participations featuring well known companies from Germany, Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic have already registered for the upcoming event. For instance, the British Mining Association ABMEC (Association of British Mining Equipment Companies) will once again be present with a joint stand. Companies from the Saarland shall also be presented once again for the third time with a joint trade fair appearance. As part of an initiative of IHK Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia will once more support the trade fair participation of small and medium-sized companies through the support program “KleingruppePlus”. Most mining subcontractors from Germany who exhibit at the UGOL ROSSII & MINING trade fair are members of the Trade Association for Mining Machinery in the registered German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
